Consistent Innovation
Overview
During my master’s program at CMU’s Human Computer Interaction Institute, I worked with a team of five to explore a prompt from Google Shopping. How Might We empower the salesperson in the omni-channel sales environment, when the shopper has immediate access to all product information. We discovered an emerging trend in in-store shopping, big box stores salespeople were shopping online with the buyer while in-store. We invented Opus, a novel omni-channel experience and the Opus Countertop, an interface to facilitate this new type of interaction.

Generative Research
While stakeholders give us the lay-of-the-land and help us understand the domain we are designing for, there is no substitute for observing the people we're building for- in the wild, doing their work. Sometimes that requires driving the length of a state.

Generating Hypotheses
Generating design hypotheses is one of the key creative steps in the design process. Here, we hypothesized that the shopper's willingness to engage with the experience would be influenced by the placement of the touchscreen and the xx engagement with the store employee.

Testing Hypotheses
Once we know what we want to test, we need to build a xxx to validate or invalidate our hypotheses for the lowest investment possible.

Google: Opus
Experience (UX) Designer
January 2014 - August 2014
Experience Design requires a broader view of the person than strict product design.  For Google Opus, the product we envisioned was a touch screen that would allow the shopper and the store employee to collaboratively shop at the store's counter. We also envisioned the shopper's experience before engaging with the store employee and conveyed our vision through storytelling.
